Homemade “Kitchen Sink” Pizza

My "Kitchen Sink" pizza: serves 2 hungry adults and a toddler

My “Kitchen Sink” pizza: serves 2 hungry adults and a toddler

I really like making pizza at home.  You can tailor it to be a healthy and easy meal.  We all like pizza in our house.  We use canadian bacon and grilled chicken to get a hit of protein and then we load it with lots of veggies to get a nutritional punch.  We always use a thin naan crust which limits the extra calories from thicker crusts and gives it a nice crisp.  The cool thing about this pizza is that if you cut up double the amount of veggies you want, you can put them in the fridge and toss them with some whole wheat pasta later in the week!

My “Kitchen Sink” pizza:
serves 2 hungry adults and a toddler

  • 3-4 tandoori naan flatbreads (any brand will do, but I prefer Stonefire)
  • 1/4-1/3 cup marinara
  • 2-4 tablespoons pesto
  • 1/2-1 cup shredded mozzarella
  • 1/2 grilled chicken breast, diced
  • 2 ounces canadian bacon, diced
  • 1 yellow pepper, sliced
  • 1 red pepper, sliced
  • 1/2 onion, sliced
  • 1-2 cups cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 cup cremini mushrooms, halved
  • Parmesan Cheese
  • Fresh basil leaves, sliced

Spread a thin layer of marinara across the flatbread.  Add a few dollops of pesto and blend.  Top with chicken and canadian bacon and then as many veggies as will fit.  Sprinkle a thin layer of mozzarella on top.  Finish with a sprinkle of parmesan cheese and fresh basil.  Bake flatbreads for 12 to 15 minutes at 400 degrees.

We love making pizza at home, I love how easy it is. This looks delicious – I’ve used pita bread but haven’t tried flat bread!

We literally make this same recipe at home all the time! We also layer some arugula over the pesto before adding the rest of the toppings 🙂
